American Animals (2018)

“Nobody wants to be ordinary.”

This is the true story of four young men who chose to irreparably change their lives by attempting one of the greatest art heists in history. This crime drama flips between documentary filming of Spencer, Warren, Erik and Chas as adults recounting the role they each played in the heist and reenacted footage of them as teenagers executing it. This style culminates in a fascinating, thrilling and deep film that incites emotion for the group of men, even though they are the antagonists. Though robbery is an act most people go their entire lives without having committed, the themes in this film are universal; finding a purpose for life, achieving the American dream and the price we are willing to pay to attain it.
