The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg

Reading this book brought my mind to a place and time similar to that portrayed in the movies: Terms of Endearment -or- Steel Magnolias. Perhaps the main characters, Sookie and Fritzi, brought an image of Shirley Maclaine to mind. The book was written in a dual plot situation. This was easy to follow if the reader paid attention to the chapter headings and time notations. The stories slowly become intertwined and that makes the story more intriguing. The families involved in this book had many relatable “traits”. The book also had a historical/genealogical element to the story as well. Fanny Flagg proves herself to be a superb story weaver as she ties everything together and leaves the reader with a wonderful and complete story. I highly recommend it!
