The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Squirrel Meets World by Shannon Hale & Dean Hale

Reviewed by Melissa Beck (Library Staff)

Doreen Green is not your average superhero. (Can you even call her a superhero? She doesn’t know.) She’s fourteen, has a bushy tail, and strength proportional to a squirrel (which might not seem like a lot but TOTALLY IS!). This confident teen is just trying to be herself and make friends in a new town when a super villain declares her his nemesis. (Guess she’s a superhero after all!). Chock-full of ridiculous squirrel puns, witty footnote asides, Avengers cameos, and exaggerated middle grade adventure, this book had me grinning from ear to ear and cheering heartily for Squirrel Girl.
